Having gone as a foreign ministry dispatch to Beijing China as a member of the Sino-Japan Cultural Friendship Mission, Mr. Kondo attended a tea ceremony demonstration with changed his life. While at the demonstration he thought, “The youths of Japan are of course interested in Japanese culture, but they have not had the chance to experience it directly in this fashion before.”, and sometime after seeing this demonstration he created “Avant-Garde Cha Kai”. Currently it has become a place to leisurely enjoy tea, and using the goal of spreading this aspect of Japanese culture to others, he has begun tea ceremony classes and holding ceremonies.
